What Does a Health and Wellness Coach Actually Do?
You may have heard the term health and wellness coach but wondered what that really means. Is it someone who gives you a strict meal plan? Someone who tells you what you should or shouldn’t do?
Not at STAT Health & Wellness.
Health and wellness coaching is a supportive partnership designed to help you identify your goals, understand what may be getting in your way, and create realistic steps that fit your life.
It Starts With You
Everyone’s health journey is different. You may want to lose weight, have more energy, manage stress, become more active, improve your daily habits, or simply feel better.
A health and wellness coach listens to what matters to you. Instead of handing you a one-size-fits-all plan, your coach helps you decide what changes feel both meaningful and manageable.
Together, you can explore questions such as:
What would you most like to improve?
Why is this change important to you?
What has or hasn’t worked in the past?
What challenges are making progress difficult?
What is one realistic step you can take next?
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s steady, sustainable progress.
Coaching Helps Turn Goals Into Action
Most people already know many of the basics: eat nourishing foods, move more, sleep well, manage stress, and follow their healthcare provider’s recommendations.
The difficult part is turning that knowledge into habits that work in everyday life.
A coach can help you break a large goal into smaller steps, recognize patterns, work through setbacks, and stay accountable. Rather than trying to change everything at once, you develop a plan that feels possible.
Small changes may seem insignificant at first, but repeated consistently, they can create meaningful results.
Coaching Is Not Medical Treatment
Health and wellness coaching does not replace your physician or other licensed healthcare provider. A coach does not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medication, or change your medical treatment.
Instead, coaching can complement your healthcare by helping you understand your personal goals, prepare questions for appointments, follow through on appropriate recommendations, and build healthier routines.
If a concern requires medical evaluation, you will be encouraged to contact the appropriate healthcare professional.
Experience Matters
STAT Health & Wellness was founded by Amy Garcie, DNP, RN, CEN, CCRN, CWCP. Amy brings more than 30 years of nursing experience in emergency, critical-care, forensic and other healthcare settings.
She also understands that lasting change is personal. Amy has lost—and kept off—120 pounds over the past four years. Her journey wasn’t about finding a magical quick fix. It was about making sustainable changes, learning what worked, and continuing even when life wasn’t perfect.
That combination of professional knowledge and lived experience shapes STAT’s practical, compassionate approach.
